Betafence (formerly Bekaert Fencing) is a European market leader in wire-based fencing systems, which the company supplies to industrial security, gardening and farming customers. In addition, Betafence specialises in the production of industrial mesh, metallic-coated low-carbon wire and cable armouring wire. Betafence operates out of Zwevegem (Belgium) with 10 manufacturing facilities in eight countries.

Development
In March 2005, Gilde completed the acquisition of Betafence from Euronext-listed SA Bekaert NV, syndicating part of its investment to CVC Capital Partners. Following the acquisition by Gilde, Betafence completed the transition to a stand-alone company and set out on a pre-agreed growth path that inter alia lead to the establishment of manufacturing facility and sourcing operation in China.
