Founded in 1892, Koninklijke Gazelle is Holland’s best-known bicycle brand, with a dominant market share in The Netherlands and growing sales in German and Belgium. Gazelle bicycles dominate the middle- to high-end of the market, encompassing city and hybrid bikes as well as a range of mountain-, children’s- and racing bicycles. Gazelle is renowned for its continuous innovations and high quality products. The company’s operations are based in The Netherlands.

Development
Gilde acquired Koninklijke Gazelle from Derby Cycle Corporation in July 2001 and syndicated part of its investment to Citigroup. Despite difficult market conditions in retail Gazelle was able to retain its leading market share in The Netherlands. Under the ownership of Gilde the company acquired two German distributors to further grow Gazelle’s market share in Germany.
